Welcome to my first posting! On here we can really talk about the Royals, unlike that guy that the Star wants us to read. Rediculous. Painful. It's so bad, it's Angel Berroa painful. No wait...Ricky Bottalico, Roberto Hernandez, Ambiorix Burgos painful.
The first thing I want someone to comment about: Come up with the best trade we could do to get an ACTUAL shortstop. I'm thinking like a Brandon Wood from the Angels. What would you be willing to trade.
I realize our rotation looks bad right now (Meche, Perez, Greinke, De La Rosa, Duckworth), but it should look a lot better in about a month (Meche, Greinke, Hudson, Perez, Elarton). Not too bad I guess.
What if we got trades done involving Brown and Sanders, and they deemed Butler ready for the outfield by June. Does that mean our lineup would have, in order, Teahen, Sweeney, Gordon, Butler, Shealy? I get goose bumps just thinking about it.

Top 4 SS to trade for:
Angels Brandon Wood or Erick Aybar
Rockies Clint Barmes
Blue Jays John McDonald
Or we can try to pick up a FA for the 2008 season in Guillen (Tigers)
My guess, we end up with McDonald or Barmes in 2007 without giving up too much, I think Wood and Aybar would be too expensive because we would be giving up some real talent for them...
Let's all just simmer down for a few weeks, shall we. Yes, a 3-8 start seems like more of the same, but those of us who grew up watching baseball produced by good ole Charley Finley are able to discern whether we're being offered more of the same. After all, only those whose brightest pre-1969 baseball memory was watching Campy Campaneris play all 9 positions in one gare are truly able to know when we're being sold the same bill of goods.
We have two legitimate pitchers on staff & the bullpen is currently hiding a kid who may turn into the newest Mexican phenom. The bats will eventually start waking up & this team will start winning nearly as many games as it loses. Frankly, if this team finishes within 5 games of .500, it will be proof that the new GM is on the right track.
Just remember, this is baseball. Baseball time is like geological time. A thousand baseball years are the equivalent of one calendar year. Cheer up earthlings. Love the game & hang on.
